Walking Bus Reply Slip
Please fill out the walking bus reply slip if you are interested in participating. Thanks.
Friday Walking Bus
The Chadderton Drive to school has been withdrawn until further notice. This is due to the low number of interested children and volunteers. The Tuesday and Wednesday walking buses will continue to operate as normal.
Park & Stride & Rhodes Drive
We hope to launch these walking bus routes in September. If you are interested in registering your child and/or registering yourself as a volunteer, for any of our routes, please complete the slip below and return to school office. The success of the scheme will depend on the enthusiasm and willingness of parents to be involved.
Swinton Crescent
We have one junior place available until the end of term. For the next school term 2007-8 we can offer either 1 infant space or 2 junior places. To avoid disappointment, please contact Marianne Thurm on 766 4731 to register your child.
Party in the Playground
There will be a walking bus stall at the “Party in the Playground” event on Sunday 24th June. You can come to find out more about the scheme.
Progress update
As you are aware, 10 pupils from Unsworth Primary School participated in the first walking bus which started from Harris Drive, on Tuesday 22nd May 2007. The success of the scheme has seen the number of children increase to 14 pupils with 3 adult volunteers. Until another volunteer can be recruited, all places on the Harris Drive route are taken for this term and also for the next school term 2007- 8.
Swinton Crescent has 8 pupils and two volunteers. The route still requires more volunteers to help on Wednesday mornings (term time)
Every child who joins the official walking bus will be given a * free pedometer! These have been donated by our scheme supporters Kellogg’s and Bury MBC. *Subject to availability and may not be exchanged for any other item
Volunteers Raffle
An extra prize of a £5 Pizza Hut voucher will be added to the draw on 13th July. The next volunteers raffle will take place on 19th October. The prizes are a 45 minute guided Lowry tour for two and a £5 Pizza Hut voucher. We thank our scheme supporters Pizza Hut (UK) Ltd and The Lowry for donating these prizes.
Kellogg’s special packs
We are collecting any unwanted unique 9 letter codes from cereal packs which feature the Free Child’s Cinema ticket. The letter codes can be found printed on the inside of the pack. If you have any of these, then please tear out the code and send them into school. We do not require the actual cereal pack, just the unique code(s). It doesn’t matter if you have only one code to send in. Thank you for your support. PS - some of you maybe thinking what this has to do with the walking Bus - well the simple answer is we can offer this as a prize.
Every time your child takes the official “Walking Bus” to school between
18th June and 19th July, their name will be entered into a weekly free prize draw to win a £5 gift voucher! These gift vouchers have been kindly donated to the Walking Bus by Unsworth Primary PTA.

There are still a few places left on the Swinton Drive/Parr Lane so please to contact Marianne Thurm on 766 4731 to register your child’s place.
Remember you must have a confirmed place in order to qualify.
Also as a HUGE thank you to our Walking Bus Volunteers, the school will be having a free prize draw for them, on Friday 13th July (yes, for someone this date will be lucky!).
The prize will be 2 tickets to the Winelight Club on Tuesday 14th August to see the very best in unsigned talent (meal not included) Patrick Briscoe, The Fallen Leaves, Tom Kerswill and Rachael Wright.
Patrick Briscoe performs superbly crafted songs delivered with passion and angst; The Fallen Leaves are a captivating duo from Cumbria; Tom Kerswill has a distinctive style in the mode of so many great singer/songwriters past and present; and Liverpool's Rachael Wright performs her poignant songs.
The prize has been kindly donated to school by The Met, Market Street, Bury.
